Bioenergy production plays a crucial role in diversifying energy sources, reducing dependency on fossil fuels, and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. As the need for bioenergy and biofuels evolves, more and more projects are driven by biogas and biomethane production. But the substrates to generate biogas are varied, from industrial wastewater to household organic waste, from vinasse to manure. • For lighter wastewaters, Paques offers the BIOPAQ^® UASB, BIOPAQ^® IC, BIOPAQ^® ICX and BIOPAQ^® RISE anaerobic reactors.
• For projects where the solids and/or fat concentrations are higher, Paques offers the BIOPAQ^® AFR and BIOPAQ^® CBD^® digesters, which eliminate pre-treatment.

In most cases, the H₂S present in the biogas needs to be removed before the biogas is used or converted into biomethane. For more cost-effective biogas production Paques developed the THIOPAQ^® technology for biogas treatment. It not only reduces the H₂S in the biogas to levels below 20 ppm, but also converts it into valuable elemental sulfur. Moreover, it uses biotechnology to regenerate the scrubbing fluid, leading to the lowest OPEX among all competing technologies. THIOPAQ® can be combined with any anaerobic digestion system.
